Turbovet Pig-MAP

Quantify Pig-MAP / ITIH4 automatically, with high precision and in a few minutes: all the advantages of a turbidimetric method with the reliability that gives a species-specific test. Testing Pig-MAP you will be able to assess the level of stress of the animal, quantify inflammatory processes and obtain a quantitative measure of animal welfare.

Do you want to have a quantitative indicator of animal welfare that is objective and easy to determine?
Do you want to quantify the stress response or to know the degree of inflammation caused by vaccines or weaning?
Do you want to detect peripartum problems in the sow early?
Do you want to determine the level of acute phase proteins in a study with confidence, using a fast, robust, automated and very precise method?

HOW DOES IT HELP YOU?

Turbovet Pig-MAP is the first method on the market for the analysis of Pig-MAP by turbidimetry. Pig-MAP is a very sensitive biomarker of inflammation and stress in the pig, and a quantitative and objective indicator of animal welfare. With Turbovet Pig-MAP the results are obtained in a few minutes, the assay can be automated using a clinical chemistry analyzer, and a pre-dilution of the sample is not necessary. This reduces significantly the analyst’s working time, and consequently the costs. The test also has a very high precision and reproducibility, making it an ideal tool for production quality control systems or animal welfare certification programs.

TEST PRINCIPLE

The test is based on immunoturbidimetry: Pig-MAP from serum reacts with specific antibodies to form immunoaggregates, originating an increase of turbidity in the reaction media. The increase of turbidity is determined with a photometric measure, and is proportional to the concentration of pig-MAP in the sample. The assay is calibrated according to the European Reference Serum for pig Acute Phase proteins (EU concerted Action QLK5-CT-1999-0153).
